Renowned actor and humanitarian, Gary Sinise, will be receiving the prestigious Pat Conroy Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming 18th annual Beaufort International Film Festival (BIFF).
The festival is set to take place from February 20-25, 2024, and the Beaufort Film Society couldn’t be more thrilled to honor Sinise’s incredible contributions to the film industry and his dedicated philanthropic efforts.
Gary Sinise has had an impressive career in stage, television, and film that has lasted almost fifty years. His portrayal of Lt. Dan Taylor in the iconic movie Forrest Gump earned him nominations for several prestigious awards, such as the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Academy Awards. He also received the Best Supporting Actor Award from the National Board of Review and the Commander’s Award from the Disabled American Veterans.
Gary has been a strong supporter of America’s service members for more than four decades.
However, after the September 11, 2001 attacks, his commitment to our nation’s active duty defenders, veterans, first responders, and their families has turned into an unwavering mission of support, service, and appreciation for those who safeguard our freedom and serve our country.
In 2003, following multiple USO handshake tours, he created the Lt. Dan Band. They have since brought entertainment to troops both domestically and internationally. With 13 talented members, the band has performed numerous shows to support wounded heroes, Gold Star families, veterans, and troops globally. Exciting news: The Lt. Dan Band will be performing in Beaufort during the film festival.
